A petition was today filed in the Madras High Court Bench here today, seeking police permission and protection for the inaugural function of a memorial in Thanjavur district, dedicated to the Tamil victims of the war in Sri Lanka.
Justice T.Raja posted the case for tomorrow after the Additional Advocate General submitted that he should get instructions from the Government.
The inauguration of "Mulli Vaaikal Ninaivu Mutram" (Mullivaaikal Memorial Yard), is scheduled later this week.

The Petitioner P.Nedumaran of Ulaga Tamizhar Peramaipput (World Tamils' Federation) submitted that they were establishing the memorial yard in a private land.Permission for setting up the yard had been granted by Thanjavur district collector, he said.
They had made all the arrangements for the functions and invitations had been sent.The court should direct government to grant permission for opening the memorial and organise the function for three days--November 8,9,10.
The monument will be modelled on the lines of the famous "Periya Kovil" (great temple) built by the Chola emperor Raja Rajan in Thanjavur.
