A nine-day long 29th plenary assembly of The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) on the theme 'promoting the joy of love in our families' will begin here on Tuesday.

This 29th plenary assembly of CCBI, will see the largest gathering of Asia's catholic clerics with the participation of 132 dioceses and 182 bishops.

"The conference being hosted by Bhopal archdiocese will deliberate on the theme 'promoting the joy of love in our families' and chalk out detailed programmes and action plans to revitalise the family apostolate at the diocesan and parish levels," Bhopal Archbishop Dr Leo Cornelio told PTI today.

The inaugural meeting of the event will be presided over by Oswald Cardinal Gracias, the President of the CCBI, the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conference (FABC) and the Archbishop of Mumbai, he said.

The theme of the Assembly is the follow up of the 'Pastoral Plan for the Church in India', promulgated on December 8, 2013, in which the safe-guarding of the family is identified as one of the pastoral priorities of the Church in India, Cornelio added.
