With the arrest of six members of an inter-state gang, Hyderabad police today claimed to have cracked a case where a container containing cigarettes worth Rs 3.28 crore had been robbed near Pune.
Allah Shah, his brother Dastagiri Shah, Radha Krishna, Satish, Mohd Arshad and Sunil, all belonging to different tehsils in Bidar district of Karnataka, had looted a container belonging to ITC Ltd carrying 416 Gold Flake king size cigarette cartons worth Rs 3.28 crore at Indapur in Pune district of Maharashtra on June 10, police said.
Police recovered the entire consignment from them.

The gang had conducted a recce on the highway for about 15 days after deciding to target the containers of ITC which has a plant at Ranjangaon. The accused decided to intercept the container with a single driver, so that there would be least resistance.
On June 10, the gang followed a container which left the factory and stopped it at Indapur. After overpowering the driver and tying him up, they took the truck to a remote village near Humnabad in Karnataka and offloaded the cigarette cartons and stored them at Sunil's house.
The container and the driver were then abandoned near Tulajapur Cross Road.
The cigarette cartons were today brought to Patancheru on the outskirts of Hyderabad when the police nabbed the accused.
