Several functions were organised across Jammu region today to observe 'Police Commemoration Day 2016', remembering the sacrifice of the police and paramilitary personnel who laid down their lives for the country.
The main function was held at 'Police Martyr Memorial' near Jammu Railway Station where senior police officers and officials from the civil administration laid a wreath to commemorate the sacrifice of the police and paramilitary personnel.
Speaking at one such function, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said the soldiers sacrifice their lives to safeguard the "integrity and unity of the country".

Reports of the day being observed from other districts of the region also poured in.
Several blood donation camps were also held where police personnel and volunteers donated blood.
