The police team comprising Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Yadav and Inspector Hriday Bhushan got a warm reception but they could not gather any information either on Houshang Afshar, alleged to be the bomber in the case, or three other accused, official sources said.

The sources said the team handed over the passport details of Afshar, Masoud Sedaghatzadeh, Saeid Moradi and Mohammad Kharzei to the Iranian authorities.

The Tehran authorities informed the Delhi Police team that they will look into the matter and inform about the same through diplomatic channels, the sources said.

The team was sent last week after Tehran conveyed its willingness to assist the Delhi Police in its probe after the alleged role of four Iranian nationals surfaced in the bombing that took place barely 500 metres from the high-security area having the Prime Minister's residence.

Delhi Police has named Afshar as the main accused who had planted a bomb on the vehicle of Israeli diplomat Tal Yeshua on February 13 that left her injured.

The sources said that the police team also handed over the details of immigration exits of Afshar from Delhi and Kaula Lumpur airport on February 13 and 14.

The Iranian officials refused to comment on Delhi police's attempt to corroborate the statement of Syed Mohammed Ahmed Kazmi, an Urdu journalist, arrested for allegedly being a part of larger conspiracy in the bombing incident.

Police had claimed that he named some Iranian nationals as his handlers during the interrogation. (MORE)
