Police Inspector arrestd for taking bribe

Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption officials today arrested Kenikarai Police Station Inspector Murugan for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 3000 from a bike owner for releasing his vehicle from the custody of the police.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Thangavel (DVAC) Ramamurthy, a sold smith had lost his vehicle which he had parked at the Virudhunagar Railway Station parking area on Jun 6. Police traced the bike and said it was in the custody of the Kenikarai Police station.

The Virudhunagar police advised the bike owner to approach the Kenikarai Police and get the bike back. However the Inspector Murugan and Sub-inspector Shanmuga Rajeswaran had demanded Rs six thousand for releasing the bike.
 

He lodged a complaint to the DVAC who set a trap and to set a trap and arrest him.

Police also seized Rs 10,500 from the inspector and arrested him.
