Police today registered a criminal case against the authorities of a private college here on charge of showing sexually explicit pictures to the minor girl students.

"We have registered a case under sections of IPC and under section 8 and 12 of sexual offence act, 2012 which prescribes minimum of three years imprisonment, against college chairman, principal and matron of the girls hostel," said Town Police Station Inspector-in-charge Manas Gadnayak.

Police said it registered the case against the college authorities on the basis of an inquiry made by Dhenkanal District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Anuradha Goswami, Sub-Collector Anil Patnaik and Sadar Tehsildar Satrughna Kar.

Earlier, there were allegations of showing blue films to the minor girl inmates of Saikrupa Plus-II College by its chairman. The girls stay on top floor of the self-financing private college.

Meanwhile, the district administration of Dhenkanal has reported the matter to the Higher Education department.

The college authorities, however, denied the allegations and claimed that the guardian of an inmate who defaulted huge amount of money, made this complaint by instigating minor girls.
