A 14-year-old boy was today rescued from the clutches of his abductors, four of whom have been arrested from the Imli jungle under Patan police station of Palamau district, the police said.

Superintendent of Police, Mayur Patel told reporters that the police have also recovered two country-made pistols, eight live cartridges and three mobiles phones from their possession.

The boy, Mukhesh Kumar Pathak, a student of class VIII, was abducted by unidentified persons from the Hutnidag village under Chagapur police station limits of the district on the night of February 12 and was released today after the police mounted pressure on the abductors, Patel claimed.

The family members of the boy had lodged a complaint with the Chagapur police station a day after the incident, the police said claiming the abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh ransom for the boy's release.

Keeping a track of the abductors and maintaining a strong vigil, the Police arrested four kidnappers when the boy's uncle was about to hand over a part of the ransom today.

Patel said a search was on to apprehend two other members of the gang.
