Police rescue seven women, three arrested

Seven women, who were forced into the flesh trade, were rescued from two different places in the city and three persons allegedly involved in the crime were arrested, police said today.

Anti-vice squad police personnel who were maintaining vigil in plain clothes near IT companies on the famous old Mahabalipuram Road, also known as IT corridor due to the presence of large IT companies, were lured for prostitution, a police release said.

The disguised policemen acting as "customers" were taken to a bungalow in Kottivakkam by 30-year-old accused Vidhyadharan who was arrested, while the five women hailing from Mumbai, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were rescued, it said.
 

In another incident, two persons including a junior female television actress and her relative were arrested for allegedly forcing two girls into flesh trade. The girls were aspiring to enter film industry but were allegedly forced into prostitution by the duo, the release said.

All the three accused were remanded and the seven women were sent to government home for women. The police have warned of strict action against those involved in such crimes, it said.
