Police seizes 42 scants of timber in Doda

Police today seized 42 timber scants extracted illegally in Doda district here, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police team conducted a raid in Budhli Champal area in Gandoh and recovered timber, measuring over 175 cubic feet, Station House Officer (SHO) Gandoh, Tariq Hussain Naik said.

The smugglers, however, managed to flee from the spot, he said, adding efforts are on to nab them.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of Forest Act and further investigation is underway, he said.
