Police today seized 51 kg of poppy from a truck in Jammu city.
A police team, while on routine duty at the Greater Kailash Chowk here, signaled one truck to stop for checking which was on its way from Narwal towards Kunjwani, a police officer said.
During the search of the vehicle, police party recovered 51 kg of poppy, he said, adding that the truck was seized but the driver managed to escape.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections of the law has been registered at police station Gangyal and further investigation of the case is underwat, he added.
