Police woman attempts suicide after partner rejects marriage

A 24-year-old woman Constable attempted suicide after her senior colleague with whom she was staying allegedly refused to marry her, police said today.

The Constable attempted suicide yesterday while the accused Sub Inspector, posted in Khajoori Khas police station, is absconding.

The victim had befriended the SI during the 2010 Commonwealth Games and they were staying together in a rented accommodation.

He, however, started avoiding her in the past few months and told her that he would not marry her.

Yesterday, she allegedly consumed poison and was found in an unconscious state at a bus stand near her house.

She was rushed to a hospital where police recorded her statement.
 

A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab the SI.
