Policeman seriously injured in attack

A policeman was today seriously injured here when he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by three persons who fled with his service revolver.

ASI Balwinder Singh, posted at city police station, was returning home on a motorcycle when he was attacked with sharp-edged weapons near DAV Model Senior Secondary School, police said.

The attackers on a motorcycle snatched his service revolver and fled. Singh suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital from where he was referred to Amritsar in a serious condition, they said.

Senior police officials have reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A case has been registered in this connection, they said.
