Several policemen today protested against the High Court verdict, in which it asked the government not to give posting to nine senior police officers till the judicial probe ordered into police actions against lawyers was over.

"We were performing our duty and trying to maintain law and order but today's order is apparently one sided and demoralises us. So, we decided to boycott mess facilities in all police stations," a senior police officer said.

"Whatever action was taken against the lawyers was not intentional," he said, adding that implementation of any such order will dent their morale.

The Rajasthan High Court today ordered a judicial probe by a sitting judge into police actions on lawyers.

Hearing a PIL, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Amitava Roy and Justice Ajay Rastogi directed the government not to give any posting to Jaipur Police Commissioner B L Soni and 8 others until the investigation is completed.

Earlier, it was reported that following court orders, Soni was replaced by Kapil Garg as Jaipur Police Commissioner.

However Soni, along with eight other policemen, has said he has not received any order in this regard.

"I have not received any order of removal," Soni said.

Several policemen as well as advocates were injured in clashes in last two days.

The lawyers were baton charged when they were marching towards the state Assembly on Wednesday during their agitation for better renumeration.

Some policemen were also injured in stone-pelting by the lawyers.

Violence again erupted yesterday after the lawyers, agitated over Wednesday's baton charge, clashed with the police in and around the Session's court campus.
