Dancers from Poland, Italy and Russia will perform in the sixth edition of Pragjyoti International Dance Festival, to be held in Assam next year.

The festival, being organised under the aegis of a cultural organisation 'Kalpa', will take place at three locations -- Guwahati, Kaziranga and Sivasagar -- from February 15 to 19 next year.

"The festival will be dedicated to the glory of Ahom kingdom. We want to showcase the rich Ahom culture to outside Assam people," Kalpa Joint Secretary and Festival Director Anwesa Mahanta told PTI here.

Keeping in mind this, the last two days of the festival will take place in the open field of the famous Siva Dol temple in Sivasagar that was constructed by the Ahoms, she said.

Elaborating the performances, Mahanta said: "While the dancer from Poland will perform Bharatanatyam, those from Italy and Russia will dance Odissi."

Besides, young dancers from across the country will perform other forms like Mohiniyattam, Kathak and Sattriya, she informed.

Mahanta further said a total of 12 performances will take place during the five-day long dance extravaganza.

The festival is also being supported by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of External Affairs and Assam government.
