Poll officials have so far seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 89 lakh in East Godavari district, a senior official said today.
"Cash worth Rs 89 lakh has been seized so far, besides liquor and other materials by officials," district collector cum returning officer Neetu Prasad said after addressing a review meeting attended by election observers and Excise officials here.
Police are monitoring the movement of liquor and cash in the district, and has conducted raids at various points, she said.
The collector said the authorities are conducting surprise checks in some pockets to prevent illegal liquor and money believed to be in circulation to influence voters.
