Polythene use banned in Kishanganj from January 1

Apparently driven by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Kishanganj district administration has decided to ban use of polythene bags in the district with effect from January 1 next.

Briefing reporters about the decision, district magistrate Animesh Kumar Parashar today said strict action would be taken against shopkeepers and polythene bag manufacturers if such materials were found in Kishanganj district from January 1.

He said the district administration would simultaneously take effective measures to ensure cleanliness in Kishanganj town and surrounding areas from next month.

The area falling under Nagar Parishad has been divided into eight zones and a dedicated team of officials deputed to ensure cleanliness in the town on daily basis, the district magistrate said.
