Popular Chinese actor held for sex with prostitute

A well-known Chinese actor has been detained by police after be was caught having sex with a prostitute.

Beijing police today said they had placed Huang Haibo, 38, in "administrative detention" after they received a tip- off and caught him with the prostitute in a hotel here last evening.

He confessed to the illegal act, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Huang is the leading actor in a number of popular TV series, including "A Beautiful Daughter-in-law Era," a comedy about a modern Chinese couple.

Prostitution is illegal in China.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Public Security demanded that the police crack down on prostitution and pornography.
