Captain William Porterfield scored 112 for Ireland to rack 269-7 against England in a one-off one-day international in Dublin today.
England, which won the toss and chose to field, made early inroads thanks to fast bowler Boyd Rankin's 4-46 but couldn't prise out the opener Porterfield until the 46th over. By then, he'd hit 14 of the 142 balls he faced to the boundary, and one six.
The rest of the batting lineup failed to capitalize, with the extras tally of 32 the second-highest total on the scorecard.
Rankin, on his ODI debut, was the pick of the England bowlers, rattling the stumps of Porterfield. Spinner James Tredwell took 2-35 on a slow pitch.
