Press Trust of India New Delhi
Potato prices declined by Rs 12.10 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 1,422.50 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators offloaded positions driven by sluggish demand in spot markets.

Adequate stocks availability in the physical market also put pressure on potato.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in May fell by Rs 12.10, or 0.84 per cent to Rs 1,422.50 per quintal in business turnover of 202 lots.

The potato for delivery in April contract also traded lower by Rs 7.60, or 0.58 per cent to Rs 1,297 per quintal in 21 lots.

Analysts said fall in potato prices was mostly due to offloading of positions by speculators, triggered by weak demand in the spot market against adequate supply.
