Power generation in Unit II stopped for turbine repair

: Power generation in Unit II of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) had been stopped for repairing the turbine, a senior official said.

Plant director S V Jinnah said that steps would be taken to repair the unit, which was generating 950 MW, as soon as possible, in view of the power requirements for the summer.

The first unit of the plant had been shut for maintenance since April 13.

Unit 1, which has produced 14,126 Million Units power since its inception in 2013, was shut down on April 13 for refuelling to replace used fuel with fresh stock.
