Power outages in Chandigarh

Power supply was disrupted in the city for several hours following some fault in power transmission, causing major inconvenience to energy consumers.

"Power supply was hit because of some fault developed in power tansmission at 220 KV substation at Mohali," a senior official of Chandigarh Electricity department said in the evening.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited' s Mohali power sub station meets almost 40 per cent of Chandigarh's total energy requirement, he said. Southern sectors of Chandigarh including sector 30, 31, 32, 46, 47 were worst affected because of power failure.

Electricity department officials said efforts are to restore power supply. "Power supply will be restored soon," he said.
