A 22-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly beaten to death for dowry at Sheetalapurva village in Ataria area here, police said today.
The victim, Shikha Yadav, married to Rampravesh was reportedly beaten to death by her husband and four others last night after her family members failed to met dowry demand of Rs 50,000 and a bike, they said.
The accused were caught by the villagers this morning when they were trying to hang her body to make it look like suicide, police said.
A case has been registered against Rampravesh and four others and the body has been sent for post mortem, police said, adding no arrests have so far been made in this regard.
