Pregnant woman raped in MP

A pregnant woman was allegedly raped by the son of a sarpanch at a village here, police said today.

The 35-year-old woman, mother of five children, was raped by Ajay Rajput around 5-6 days back at Bart village in the district when she was working as a domestic help in the sarpanch's house, Naugaon police station in-charge D D Azad said.

The victim, who was five months pregnant, reported the matter to police at that time following which a case was registered in this regard, he said.

Police have launched a search to nab the absconding accused, he added.
