Prepare proposal to increase salary of all guest teachers: CM

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today directed the Education department to prepare a proposal to increase salaries of all guest teachers irrespective of whether they have cleared the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) or not.

The department today tabled its proposal to increase salaries of guest teachers who have cleared 'Central Teacher Eligibility Test in the Cabinet meeting, but the CM directed it to also include non-CTET guest teachers in its proposal.

There are about 15,000 guest teachers teaching students in 1,025 government schools across the national capital.

"The Chief Minister has asked Education department to include those teachers who have not cleared CTET, in its original proposal so that all guest teachers will get benefits," sources said.
 

They also said that department will again table its new proposal in the next Cabinet meeting after inclusion of non-CTET teachers in it.

As per the plan, government wants to increase salaries of guest teachers from the existing Rs 17,000-19,000 to Rs 32,000-34,000.
