President Pranab Mukherjee today greeted the people of Afghanistan on the eve of its Independence Day saying a strong, united and prosperous Afghanistan is in the interest of India.
In his message to his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai, Mukherjee spoke about the traditional ties of friendship between the two countries which gained strength and substance in the recent years.
"I am confident that our close cooperation will continue to contribute to the development and progress of Afghanistan and stability in the region. A strong, united and prosperous Afghanistan is in the interest of India," he said.
