'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', the third book in the Potter series is getting an illustrated makeover, the front cover for which has been revealed by the publishers.

The cover features 'The Knight Bus', the iconic purple coloured, triple decker vehicle that appeared out of thin air and whisked Harry off to Diagon Alley.

The illustrations have been made by award-winning artist Jim Kay, who will bring to life the series of events that marked a shift in the tone of the narrative towards a darker territory, with the introduction of key characters like Sirius Black and Professor Trelawney.

"Bloomsbury Publishing is excited to reveal the cover of the eagerly anticipated 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' Illustrated Edition written by J K Rowling, illustrated by Jim Kay," the London-based publishing house said in a statement.

Depictions of Hogwarts professors, like Severus Snape, as well as new images of the Hogwarts castle besides the Knight Bus, will also be in store for readers.

The hardbound book that will hit stands on October 3 this year, contains over 115 new graphics, and will be translated into over 21 languages around the world.

The edition will also include a ribbon marker, head and tail bands, and illustrated endpapers.
