Armed gunmen today shot dead a prisoner and injured another in the district court premises in broad daylight in Bihar's Buxar district, police said.
The assailants fired indiscriminately at undertrial prisoners Kamlesh Kumar and Shashikant Mishra while they were being taken to a court for appearance during trial proceedings of a triple murder case last month, Superintendent of Police (SP) Baburam said.
Kumar died on the spot, while Mishra sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be out of danger, he said.

Both prisoners were arrested in connection with the triple murder case in Mathia Mohalla in Town police station area last month and lodged in the central jail, Baburam said.
A probe has been ordered in the firing incident in the court and raids were being carried out to nab the assailants, he said.
