Professional tax exemption for visually impaired employees

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said his government would exempt visually impaired government employees from paying professional taxes and reserve housing quota for them.

Gogoi assured a delegation of All Assam Blind Employees' Association that his government was committed towards extending special care to the visually impaired as they deserve special attention and love from society.

He also directed the concerned officials to execute the modalities for in-service promotion of the visually challenged employees as per their qualifications.

Gogoi also assured the delegation that the government would complete all the formalities to upgrade Guwahati, Nagaon and Jorhat Blind Schools to Higher Secondary level.
 

The delegation led by its president Dilip Kumar Das and secretary Noor Mohammad submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister.
