A programme officer was today arrested from his office for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 in Bihar's West Champran district.
The programme officer, Hari Shankar Prasad, was arrested by a Vigilance team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Maharaj Kanishka Kumar who laid a trap for him, Director General of Police, Vigilance, P K Thakur said.
Prasad posted at the Gaunaha block had demanded Rs 28,000 from a resident of Mehnaulkala village, Shamsher Khan to make him eligible for the MNREGA scheme.

An additional Rs 15,000 was also seized from the official which he had allegedly taken as bribe from other people, Thakur said.
He was charged under Prevention of Corruption Act.
