A 25-year-old property dealer has been arrested in connection with the murder of advocate Kishore Chanda in Jalpaigudi district of West Bengal.

A team of West Bengal police arrested property dealer Jyotish Pramanik alias Vimal here yesterday, in connection with the murder of Kishore Chanda, who was also a former district bar association secretary on November 23, police said.

The accused had allegedly fled Jalpaigudi after the murder to evade police and arrived here about a week ago, they said, adding that he had started working in a 'dhaba' (local eatery) under the fake identity of Vimal.

Pramanik admitted that he killed Chanda at his residence as he was not paid for a property deal about three years ago.

The accused told police that he had a disputed piece of land which he had sold for Rs 15 crores to Chanda who got it registered in his name without making the payment.

Pramanik was presented before the CJM court and taken on transit remand to West Bengal, police added.
