Traders shut their shops and locals staged a rally here today to protest the Punjab State Power Corporation's decision to hike security deposits for new connections.
They said the hike would be an additional burden on them and demanded its rollback.
The Power Corporation has raised the security deposit for domestic connections from Rs 850 per kilowatt to Rs 1,550 and for the commercial sector from Rs 1,154 per kilowatt to Rs 1,840.
