The Power Development Department (PDD) workers today staged a demonstration with the body of a line man, who was electrocuted on April 13, and demanded financial assistance to the kin of the deceased.
The protesters carried the the body of 21-year-old Vicky, and placed it on Tawi bridge on highway in the city and held anti-government protest demonstrations.
"Government is very inhuman-- none of the officials or officers visited the hospital to find out what happened with the line man-- his family was informed and that is only job performed by the government towards him," Provincial President of PDD Workers Association, Kulbir Singh, told reporters here.

"We are treated like unwanted persons in the department. We demand ex-gratia compensation and job to the next of the kin of the deceased," he said.
Vicky died of electric shock while repairing high tension line in Ware House area of the city on April 13.
On getting assurance from the authorities regarding proper inquiry, grant of job to next of the kin of the deceased, the protesters later lifted the blockade and the body was consigned to flames.
