Despite police security, a group of protesters entered the cinema hall screening Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela' here and set afire the furniture there.
The management of Meenakshi cinema hall alleged that some people indulged in vandalism and set ablaze a number of seats last evening.
Police said after the incident, security in and around the cinema hall has been further stepped up. The audience also staged a protest alleging police negligence.
Earlier on Sunday, a number of activists had disrupted shows of the film, which is being screened in two theatres of the town.
After this, an FIR was lodged against 150 unnamed persons but no arrest has so far been made.
