Protesting students threaten to end life

A group of students of a private college here, part of those agitating for basic amenities for the last few months, today caused a flutter when they climbed atop the college building and threatened to commit suicide, police said.

However, police intervened and along with other students persuaded them to climb down, they said.

The students of the college have been agitating seeking basic amenities, including hygienic toilets, and adequate faculty and had represented to the District Collector about their grievances.

As a last resort, they demanded that the government take over the college and were observing a dharna in the campus when some students climbed atop the building, police said.
