PSB wins, Karna and Mumbai share points

Punjab and Sind Bank beat former champions Indian Railways 3-1 while Karanataka and Mumbai played out a 2-2 draw in their respective league matches in the 89th All India MCC Hockey tournament for the Murugappa Gold Cup here today.

In the first match, Karnataka's Thimanna scored two goals (20th and 64 minutes) while Harjeet Singh struck twice (19th and 29th) for Mumbai with his penalty corner conversions.

In the second match, Ranjodh Singh put Punjab and Sind Bank ahead in the 19th minute. Seven minutes later, Stanli Mint found the equaliser for Railways.

However, Ramandeep Singh's solo effort helped the bankmen take the break with a 2-1 lead. In the second half, PSB's Sravanjit Singh scored in the 53rd minute.
