PWD accountant held for accepting bribe

An accountant of the Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department was today caught red-handed when he was accepting bribe from a contractor to clear payment at his office in Ghaziabad.

According to sources, accountant Neeraj Kumar Lakda sought a bribe of Rs 10,000 from PWD contractor Shyam Lal to clear files for payment of dues.

Acting on a complaint, CBI officials laid a trap and caught him red-handed and recovered Rs 7,000 from him, Moradabad Commissioner Shivshankar Singh said.
