BJP leader and Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Minister Brijmohan Agrawal today attacked Rahul Gandhi for likening the situation in India to Pakistan, saying the Congress chief has insulted the people of the country by making such a comparison.
Gandhi, who is on a two-day trip to Chhattisgarh, today said the Constitution is under "severe attack" and an atmosphere of fear was prevailing in the country.
Gandhi also likened the situation in the country to Pakistan and some African countries under "dictatorships".
"It is unfortunate and shameful that the Congress president Rahul Gandhi compared vibrant democracy like India with Pakistan. He has insulted his fellow country men," Agrawal, Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Minister, told reporters here.
He said only the Gandhi scion can think about dictatorships in India as in past his party had imposed the Emergency on the country.
"I also welcome Gandhi to Chhattisgarh as his visit will ensure the BJP's victory in the state in the upcoming assemble elections," said Agrawal.
