The outlay for Tamil Nadu of Rs 520 crore in the railways, has increased to about Rs 4,000 crore during the last three years, Railway minister, Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu said today.
Speaking after inaugurating new passenger facilities at a cost of over Rs 15 crore, at Coimbatore Junction Prabhu requested the state Government to join hands with Indian Railways for infrastructure development.
The minister has agreed to consider a few representations regarding stopping of trains from the city to Bengaluru, even as assured to look into introducing the long pending demand for a night train to Bengaluru.
Prabhu inaugurated a slew of modern amenities such as two AC Executive Lounges, AC Dormitory, Additional Retiring Rooms and Waiting Room facilities.
