Railways have carried 996 million tonnes (MT) of freight traffic during the April 2014-February 2015 period as compared to 953.05 MT carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.51 per cent.
During the month of February, the freight traffic carried by railways was 89.64 MT, according to Railway Ministry data.
The freight carried in February this year is an increase of 2.71 MT over the goods traffic of 86.93 MT carried by railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 3.12 per cent.
