A Rajasthan Assembly clerk was booked for allegedly duping a man of Rs 2.5 lakh on the pretext of getting his brother a job.

Bahadur Singh took Rs 2.5 lakh from one Mahesh Kumar in January last year and promised that he will manage to get his younger brother the job of a peon in the Assembly.

Complainant Mahesh said that Singh told him that there was an opening in the Assembly and he personally knows officers and ministers and will help his brother getting the job.

For this, he took the money and later refused to return when no call letter was received by the complainant, police said.

An FIR in the matter was lodged with Karni Vihar police station under various sections of IPC.

When contacted, the clerk refuted the allegation of promising a job saying he had borrowed the money from Mahesh for some personal work and had returned it.
