Raj officer arrested on forgery charges

A Rajasthan Secretariat Service officer has been arrested on charges of forgery and sent to jail, police said today.

Gopiram Kumawat, currently posted as Joint Secretary (Public Utility) in the Secreterate, Jaipur, was yesterday arrested in connection with a forgery case lodged against him by the principal of a law college in 2009, Circle In-charge Devesh Bharadwaj said.

Bharadwaj said Kumawat forged his second year LLB course marksheet. He was today produced before a court, which sent him to jail.
