Resident doctors of state's six medical colleges, agitating against manhandling with their two colleagues at state-run MDM Hospital by a patient's family members, today called off their strike after being assured of adequate security arrangement in the premises.

Medicos at Jodhpur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer and Bikaner medical colleges had been striking work after some relatives of a patient beat up and tore clothes of two resident doctors and a nursing staff on Monday.

District collector Gaurav Goyal said the security related demands of the doctors has been referred to the Principal Secretary (Medical & Health), who has asked to address the issue in consultation with local administration and police.

"We have been assured of adequate security cover in the hospital like installation of the CCTVs and deployment of the security guards apart from the policemen at the emergencies of the hospitals," president of Jodhpur Resident Doctors Association Praveen Joshi said.
