On a reviewing spree of each state department since coming into power, Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje today underlined the need for state roadways bus service to be people-friendly and spelled out ways through which they could improve their standards.

Every gram panchayat should be connected with RSRTC operated bus services for which Rajasthan Gramin Parivahan Seva concept shall be considered, Raje told a high level meeting of transport and roadways departments' officials here.

Vehicle tracking and passenger information systems need to be strengthened so that passengers get right information and high quality road service, she said.

On the ongoing inter-state bus terminal's renovation in Jaipur, she said there should be better passengers' services and facilities, and a shopping centre or a hotel should be developed at the same place.

Considering a proposal to allow private bus operations on national highways, she said there would be a healthy competition in the interest of passengers.

This would also contain illegal operation of buses without a permission of the state government, she said.
