Ram Naik, Ilayaraja receive SIES National Eminence Award

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and noted music composer Ilayaraaja today received the SIES-Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati National Eminence award at a function here.

Prof K Vijayaraghavan, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, and Koteswara Rao from Andhra Pradesh also received the awards.

The Sankaracharya of Kanchi Sri Jayendra Saraswati was also present at the function.

The awards were instituted by the South Indian Education Society in 1998 in memory of Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati, the late seer of Kanchi. They carry a prize of Rs 2.5 lakh, a citation in Sanskrit and an ornamental lamp.
