Randhir Singh, IOC Member in India, today condoled the death of former Indian Olympic Association President B Sivanthi Adityan.
"I have known him for a long time. He was a perfect gentleman, superb sportsman and a very fine colleague. I had the privilege of being with him in the IOA since 1987 and then OCA when he was the Vice-President", Randhir said in a condolence message.
"He was the Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent in the 1978 Asian Games when I won the gold medal. I still remember his wife coming to my room and giving me prasad and blessings of Balaji of Tirupati. He had a long stint with volleyball and his work has been recognised internationally", he said.
Adityan, who was also the president of the Volleyball Federation of India, died in Chennai yesterday after prolonged illness. He is survived by wife, a son and a daughter.
