Military medicine experts from nearly 80 countries today deliberated on a wide range of subjects such as terrain specific military medical support and health related issues linked to women in combat role.
On the second day of the six-day World Congress of the International Committee of Military Medicine (ICMM), the military health experts also delved into innovations in the field of medical care and related subjects.
The 42nd ICMM is taking place in India for the first time and it was officially inaugurated today by Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba.

In his brief address, Admiral Lanba emphasised the importance of military medicine which provides the medical support required by troops deployed in combat as also in their peace time duties, the defence ministry said in a release.
The inaugural session of the conference was also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa and Defence Secretary Sanjay Mitra.
