The city-based Research Centre Imarat (RCI), the avionics laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), today celebrated its 27th annual day.
Telangana chief secretary Rajiv Sharma said at a function to mark the day that RCI had made a great contribution towards development of industry in Hyderabad, which had "a multiplier effect on the economy of the region".
"New products need to be developed indigenously and Hyderabad has a great potential for inviting investments, talent and manufacturing capabilities, both in R&D as well as in production," Sharma was quoted as saying in an official release.

"I urge the director, RCI to collaborate with our technical institutions for giving proper direction to the skill building initiatives of our government," he added.
G Satheesh Reddy, scientific adviser to Defense Minister and the RCI director, said, "Our collective efforts can transform RCI as the global leader in avionics systems.
"We have to gear up for the next level of futuristic research and bring in the much needed technological self-reliance in the country," he said.
