RDO held for taking bribe of Rs 50,000

Vigilance sleuths today arrested a Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man in Ernakulam district.

A team headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police P N Ramesh arrested RDO V R Mohanan Pillai from his office in Muvattupuzha while accepting the bribe of Rs 50,000 after one Mathew Daniel had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance Unit against him, officials said.

According to the complaint, Pillai had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for allowing the complainant to construct a wall near a paddy field close to his home in Vengachuvadu in Muvattupuzha, a Vigilance official said.
 

Daniel had informed the Vigilance department following which it initiated a probe into the incident.
