The Red Cross will set up generic drug outlets in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure availability of certified medicines at lower prices.
The outlets will come up in the district hospitals, a Red Cross release said.
The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the J&K state chapter of Indian Red Cross Society chaired by Governor N N Vohra.

Speaking at the meeting, Vohra stressed that such shops should become operational in next six months, and sought availability of generic drugs at tehsil and block levels also.
Vohra underscored the need for first aid and short-term disaster management courses for the Red Cross volunteers to keep them abreast with necessary rescue skills, and sought expansion of the volunteers' base.
He said, among various other initiatives, Red Cross should place collection boxes at public places like airports, railway stations, bus stands, hospitals and government offices.
